Group work on parameterization of particle size distribution of cirrus

*we discussed existing parameterizations
(Heymsfield & Platt 1984 (midlatitude cirrus), McFarquhar &Heymsfield 1997(tropical cirrus), Donovan 2003 (midlatitude cirrus), Ivanova et. al 2001 (midlatitude cirrus)

*input to all the parameterizations are temperature and ice water content and some constants

*Their parameterizations differ a little bit in their predictions in some temperature and IWC intervall, because they have measured different clouds


*one "problem" is to choose the "best" parameterization

*Cory Davis showed us that he had simulated a cloud scenario with Heymsfield & Platts parameterization

*for further work we can look at different parameterizations and see how they effect the radiative properties of the clouds
